On a multitide of recommnedations, I picked this up to try and learn how to do eye makeup properly. And learned that there is no normal, proper or right way, much to my relief. :) Very clear diagrams, lots of different looks, and some amazing transformations on well known (and unknown) faces. Loved

the fact that he included a drag queen and a businessman, and his mom and sisters. :) I was a bit surprised to see a section on plastic surgery in a make up tips book, but he handled it neutrally and gave some good tips on how to choose a surgeon. Looking forward to trying out the looks from actresses from the 1930's to '50's.

If you love "playing" makeup, as I do, you NEED this book. Kevin Aucoin--a student of Way Bandy--shows, step-by-step, how makeup can literally make you beautiful. I have made many improvements to my makeup application and toilette because of this book. In its class, it's a five star book.

This is just a lovely, lovely book. It's a great how-to resource for anyone interested in learning just how to properly apply makeup, but it's also so much more. Aucoin's personality shines throughout the text; it's easy to see how much love he holds for makeup and for beauty in all its forms. I

love his attitude. Aucoin focuses on bringing out your true self while having fun with the process and experimenting. He stresses that the only limits are those we give ourselves, and that readers should feel free to try all sorts of different things with the makeup techniques he sets forth. This was a heartwarming, inspiring read as well as a great instruction manual.

It's amazing what make-up can do. If you see it as art, the possibilities are endless. And once you do, you can create real things of beauty.

Aside from the pics and tips, Kevyn's lovely personality shines through...how one can remain so positive and sweet after suffering such hardship is an

Highly recommend, even if you're not a girly girl...it makes a lovely coffee table book.

This was probably more advanced than I was looking for, but it was interesting to look through and I did learn some things. (For example, I learned about shaping one's face with two tones of foundation. Fascinating.)

My bible to look good, specially in pictures as Kevyn shares his tips on shading makeup.

Amazing book on makeup artistry - when I'm bored, I pull it out and try his tricks.

This is a classic for learning how to contour and create other optical illusions. The cover looks boring and dated but the content is very much current and relevant. Many different techniques and overall effects are demonstrated, and not just on models--looks are shown on both celebrity models and

then again on ordinary people to show how it can be wearable. The celeb pictures are stunning; look for Drew Barrymore, Winona Ryder and many others.
