A series of people and creatures are invited to a party, beginning with the titular witch, each one giving a conditional acceptance, provided someone else is invited. The Witch asks for Cat, Cat asks for Scarecrow, and so on, until eventually a group of children is invited. They, of course, ask for

Designed to be read interactively - the child/children read the first part ("Witch, Witch, please come to my party"), while the adult(s) read the response ("Thank you, I will, if you invite Cat") - Witch, Witch, Come to My Party would make for an entertaining read-aloud selection at story-hour or bedtime. The text is quite simple - just the invitation and response on each two-page spread - so each page is dominated by the colorful, expressive artwork of Pat Ludlow. I really enjoyed the illustrations here, finding them both creepy and beautiful. Recommended to anyone looking for interactive picture-books with a spooky feeling.
