This is like one of those parallel books, such as "Ender's Shadow" was for "Ender's Game." Larissa takes place on the same world and at relatively the same time as "Shade." However, this is definitely her story. Larissa is a gladiator - she fights in an arena for money. But the aliens that rule her
A very well done, gritty urban fantasy/scifi novel that packs a lot into a small book. Not as good as "Shade," but definitely worth reading.

I got this book as a gift a few years ago, and I still enjoy re-reading it. Devenport does fantastic work at creating a dark, gritty world. It has elements of dystopia, which I enjoyed. It's a very dark, adult book with a strong female main character. The story was well paced and every character
