Description

Summer knight - "Harry Dresden's faced some pretty terrifying foes during his career. Giant scorpions. Oversexed vampires. Psychotic werewolves. All par for the course for Chicago's only professional wizard. But in all Harry's years of supernatural sleuthing, he's never faced anything like this: the spirit world's gone completely postal. All over Chicago, ghosts are causing trouble--and not just of the door-slamming, boo-shouting variety. These ghosts are tormented, violent, and deadly. Someone--or something--is stirring them up to wreak unearthly havoc. But why? And why do so many of the victims have ties to Harry? If Harry doesn't figure it out soon, he could wind up a ghost himself."--NoveList. Death masks - "Professional wizard Harry Dresden finds his life spiralling out of control when the Red Court of Vampires' champion sets out to kill him, professional hit men use him for target practice, he becomes involved in a murder investigation, and his ex-girlfriend returns."--NoveList.… (more)

I finished Summer Knight on 2008-02-10. Once again, Butcher writes a compellingly readable book. Dresden is back at it, this time dealing with warring Fairy courts, Vampires, and the White Council all at the same time. Harry's fairy godmother sells his debt to a fairy queen of the summer court, and

she calls him out to find out who killed the Summer Knight. Harry gets tied up between pleasing the White Council (who want him dead to stop the war with the vampires) and trying to stop a war between the Summer and Winter Fairy courts that will ultimately destroy the world. Harry gets beat up a lot, but survives in true Dresden style and comes out on top. I'm certainly going to continue reading this series!
