Description

Courtney Crumrin returns in a series of newly remastered, full-color hardcover editions! To her new classmates, Courtney is merely the grim, quiet girl in the back row. But when a group of students accidentally turns a young boy into a goblin, Courtney must lead the children into Goblin Town to find a cure. Unfortunately, misfortune seems to follow the group straight to the Twilight Kingdom--misfortune and a misguided lawkeeper who has it out for Courtney!

Dark, beautiful stories about little Courtney who doesn't get on well with the rich kids from school but does scarily well with the things that go bump in the night. Rating them up with Neil Gaimen's Coraline and some of the creepier Roald Dahls. The illustrations are magical.

I'm sad to see that this is the last in the series (as far as I can see). Really cute and funny and really just everything I like in a darker graphic novel.

This is the third book in the Courtney Crumrin series; I believe there are four books in this series with the fourth book titled, Courtney Crumrin's Monstrous Holiday. It was a fun read but I didn't like it quite as much as the previous two books.

Courtney has switched schools again; she is in the

Coven's special school for magical studies. Courtney takes a trip back to her old home to hang with an old friend. Then she helps her fellow classmates journey into the Twilight Kingdom to fix a problem they create when a magic spell goes wrong.

The first chapter was all about Courtney going back home so that her parents can sell their old house. She hangs out with an old friend who has changed for the worse. I didn't enjoy the first chapter as much because it didn't really have anything magical or mystical. It basically just gave a little back story on Courtney and solidified the fact that her parents are losers.

The remaining chapters were much more interesting. Courtney and her classmates journey through the Goblin market and the Twilight Kingdom. Her classmates get into trouble and she helps get them out of trouble. It was interesting, fun to read about, and action packed.

The illustration matches the mood of the story well. The pictures are easy to follow and add a lot to the story; it is easy to tell the characters moods by their expressions.

The story is wrapped up nicely and things are set up for Courtney's monstrous holiday with her uncle.

Overall I really enjoyed this installment in the Courtney Crumrin series. I was a bit confused about what relevance the first chapter had and didn't enjoy it as much as the rest of the book. I highly recommend this series for fans of fantasy graphic novels. This graphic novel is appropriate for middle grade and older.

Courtney is my favorite kind of hero: the reluctant, misanthropic kind; she doesn’t get nicer in the course of helping people, and that often interferes with her ability to help them. She’s a little girl just learning witchcraft, but a prodigious talent, a nose for trouble, and a powerful

family behind her give her the ability to do a lot more than other kids might accomplish. It’s kind of funny that she’s the only one without a nose in the art, but I even like that as a symbol of her alienation.

Background: Courtney is at it again, only this time her uncle won't be around to help her. Courtney and her Uncle are on the outs and her powers have only continued to grow. She is now attending weekend school with other witches and warlocks of her age to learn the history of her heritage. When

something goes terribly wrong she must lead the group of students to Goblin Town and hope for the best. To make matters worse she is being chased by a deranged lawmen who only wants to lock her up for her 'crimes'.

Review: Volume Three the Twilight Kingdom was wonderful. Courtney develops as a character with knowledge of her past and friendship and the plot was fascinating. The magical world of Goblin Town and the Twilight Kingdom is beautifully conceived and the anti-Disney world. With magical creatures both evil and nice or strangely in between, the reader stays amused by their actions. I really enjoy reading and viewing this series of Graphic Novels, it is one of my favorite sets. Courtney is stoic and interesting.

The end of the novel even has the color covers from series.

Even though this series is supposed to be for children, I really feel that many of the themes translate well for people of all ages.
