When the rooster wakes the cat up on the farm very early one morning the cat was mad. He decided to put a curse on the animals so they wouldn't make the right sounds. Later the cat finds out the severity of his actions. This is a great book about community tolerance and companionship and would be

Emma Dodd's "Meow Said the Cow," is a cute tale of an irritable cat who switches all of the animals voices with whom he shares the farm with to teach them a lesson about being noisy. In the end, the animals get the cat switched with the rooster's voice, to teach him a lesson about picking on

others. This would be a perfect story to tell children in order to teach them about accepting other's differences and what happens when you are mean to others.

Cat lives on a farm with many other animals. The rooster wakes him up every morning, and Cat thinks the farm is too noisy. He casts a spell on the animals, and they all switched voices! The animals were upset that they were unable to speak in their normal language, so they find Cat and make him

give them their voices back! However, when Cat went to reverse the spell, the one thing that didn't work when Cat tried to reverse the spell, he wound up with Rooster's voice instead of his own! The rest of the animals thought it was appropriate that he was unable to speak in his own voice, as he is the one who set the spell on all of them.

Meh.

Surprisingly I do not love all the picture books, although I don't bother to read or review many that don't delight me. Despite the cat, the book didn't work for me. Perhaps it was just too rushed, but the premise has no internal logic to support it, and if your premise is fantastic everyone's

responses need to remain internally consistent.

Cute pictures though.
