Traction Man, the action figure extraordinaire who first appeared in Mini Grey's Traction Man Is Here!, returns in this, his second adventure, gaining (as the title suggests) a new companion. Still his little boy's favored plaything, Traction Man continues to explore new worlds - including the back

yard's "Mt. Compost Heap", with its ancient (Yoda-like) Potato Guide, and its ring of Mystic Shrooms - with his beloved companion Scrubbing Brush beside him all the way. Then the boy's father, deciding that Scrubbing Brush is "unhygienic," replaces him with the battery-powered, blue plastic Turbo Dog. But can the technologically advanced canine keep up, in the rough and tumble world of Traction Man (and his boy's) imaginary play...?

With the same engaging storytelling, and colorful artwork as its predecessor, Traction Man Meets Turbo Dog is an entertaining read! The idea - implicit in both of these stories - that imagination can transform any location, be it compost heap or sandbox, into the perfect environment for adventure, is very appealing. So too are the non-traditional gender roles apparent here, with the boy's father being a care-giver - there is a copy of a book entitled "Man About the House" in one of the scenes - and his sister obsessed with woodworking. I'm grateful that the first Traction Man title was chosen as one of our December selections, over in The Picture-Book Club to which I belong, where our theme this month is "toys," as I don't think I'd have picked these books up, otherwise. Now I'm looking forward to the forthcoming Traction Man and the Beach Odyssey!

A perfect example of a picture book! Utilizing entire page illustrations, which complement and enhance the text. I loved the detail put into the illustrations and the ebb and flow of the story. There was never a dull moment. Traction man is my new favorite character, because he is fearless, clever,

and tries his hardest not to disappoint his friend. I plan to read the rest of the series to my son, who adored them as well.

Traction Man is quite the unusual hero with his robot Turbodog. It's a fun book for kids with a comic-book style that kids will love. The story of their hunt for Scrubbing Brush is creative and the illustrations are amazing...when theyr'e not too wild and pulling readers from the story rather than

into it.

Traction Man is awesome! This story is a really great read aloud because of the pompous "Buzz Lightyear"-style voice you can give Traction Man. Turbo Dog is a bit of a failure, but it all turns out okay in the end when Traction Man is reunited with his old friend Scrubbing Brush. This is a picture

book that both adults and kids can enjoy!

A cute story told from the point of view of the action figure doll. A little boy is playing with his action figure (traction man) but the real plot comes from Traction Man himself who is trying to find his long time friend, scrubbing brush, who was thrown away by the little boy's father and
Show More
replaced with a battery powered dog.

Could jump start a discussion of favorite toys with elementary students and older students which they could then write about.

Traction Man the superhero. Great cartoon/ comic book type of informational text. The kids loved this when I read it to them!

Traction man is full of adventure. Traction Man and his sidekick, Scrubbing Brush are always getting dirty. The boy, who they belong to, loves them both so much. However, his father appears to be disgusted by how dirty Scrubbing Brush is. So he sneaks him away from Traction Man, and provides the

boy with a new pet for Traction Man, Turbo Dog. While Turbo Dog seems cool, Traction Man really misses his great friend Scrubbing Brush. The book unfolds as Traction Man desperately searches and saves his beloved Scrubbing Brush from the garbage. In the end, Traction Man cleans up Scrubbing Brush to keep his boy's father happy. They live peacefully together...until the next adventure!

A boy's favorite action figure Traction Man is back, this time on a domestic quest to find missing Scrubbing Brush with the help (or hindrance) of new robot Turbodog.

Traction Man and his faithful dog Scrubbing Brush are the toys of a little boy. After their adventures to the top of Mt. Compost Heap and across the swampy yard the threesome dry off and settle in for a nap. While Scrubbing Brush is off somewhere Turbodog takes his place and both he and Traction

A brave story about the search for a scrub brush that gets canned. Traction Man is looking everywhere for his best friend and partner. Good and fun story line for boys but overall, not an educational pick.

An adventure that would keep even the most conservative adult on the edge of their seats! Honestly just a super fun story to read to your children. the pictures are great, the comedy is great, and the presentation is great. I loved how it almost felt like I was reading a comic book, and really

makes you think twice about the movie Toy Story...for this book is kind of like an offshoot of the toy story premise, except this gives a little lesson in hygiene! If I could give it 6 stars I would...perhaps a "girly-girl" child wouldn't like it as much ( I say that because I don't htink my daughter would like it and she'sa girly girl).

This book was mildly entertaining although quite creative. The unlikely action hero and sidekick was amusing, but to a non-comic book reader, such as myself, it was not the most enjoyable. However, I do think that it would be a great book to read to kids who like comic books so that they can create
Show More
their own. It would also be another great way to get kids reading! This book deals with loyalty and friendship.

Traction Man's sidekick Scrub Brush has been thrown away by his human owners because he is too dirty. Turbo Dog is brought in to be a better sidekick but he cannot hack it. Traction Man looks for Scrub Brush. This is a funny book about cleanliness and neatness. It is more for older toddlers who
Show More
understand about getting dirty.

A superhero and his Scrubbing Brush are seldom parted. Or are they? Continue the action and adventure from "Traction Man is Here!" and meet Turbodog!

I read this for the "A Genre You Don't Normally Care For" part of my 2020 reading challenge. This was a story of the action figure Traction Man working with Turbodog to find Scrubbing Brush. Scrubbing Brush was adorable, but the rest of the artwork and the story didn't really grab me.
