From the creators of Captain Underpants, the story of two caveboys living in Caveland, Ohio in 500,001 BC.
This graphic novel, complete with Flip-O-Ramas, (definitely check out the Regergitation Animation on page 119), is funny beyond words. A must read!

Having never read Captain Underpants, this book took some getting used to. It was a quick read in under 20 minutes. I can see the appeal for elementary aged students with the silly dialogue, "potty talk" and funny drawings. I wasn't a fan of the caveman talk or the mispelled words, it actually made

it a bit tricky to read at times. I have to admit I did laugh once, at the end when the author makes fun of his own book by saying "my grandmother doesn't think this book should belong in a school library." I started to wonder the same thing myself as I just added it to our collection.

This graphic novel is written by the author of the Captain Underpants series, and it makes the Captain Underpants books look tasteful and refined. The Adventures of Ook and Gluk is filled with potty jokes, fighting scenes, misspellings, and bad grammar. Plus, the storyline is somewhat improbable -

cavemen time travel to the future, learn kung fu, and fight a corporate bad guy who is stealing their trees.

But every night last week, when I sat down to read a chapter of it to my sons (ages 6 and 9), they were snuggled right up beside me, one on each side. And I found the younger one re-reading the "funniest" parts to himself. So, thanks, Dav Pilkey! Anything that gets my kids reading is good with me!

This book is really funny. I laughed a lot while I read this book, especially when the baby dinosaur puked in the guy's mouth!!

From the creators of Captain Underpants, we have the Adventures of Ook and Gluk, two cavemen who befriend a dinosaur, oust the evil mayor of their town (Caveland, Ohio), are enslaved by the mayors' progeny from the futre, travel through time, learn Kung Fu, and save the world. It's a mighty big

George Beard and Harold Hutchins, the fictional creators of Captain Underpants bring this comic book to life, with crude doodle drawings (including fantastic flip pages that animate action scenes), a typeset that resembles the hand written scrawls of an elementary school student, hilarious misspellings (e.g., atenshon, department, polushun) and the requisite fart humor. Kids in grades 3-5 will love this book, although their parents might be less than pleased with the level of humor and the helpful guide at the back that explains how to speak Cavemonics ("It fun! It easy! It annoy Grown-ups!").

Join Ook and Gluk, cavemen from the year 500, 001 BC, as they befriend a dinosaur, travel into the future, learn kung-fu, defeat evil chief Goppernopper, and save their hometown of Caveland, Ohio. Although this book is written by Dav Pilkey, author of the Captain Underpants books, it is actually

written as if it were a graphic novel created by two fourth graders. The book has a great deal of poor spelling and grammar throughout and a section in the back about how to speak “cavemonics,” or “caveman language.” While children may not mind that words are misspelled because this helps them realize that they do not necessarily have to be perfect spellers at their age, this may “annoy grown-ups,” as the author states in his section about learning cavemonics. Each chapter of the book includes a “flip-o-rama,” which animates an illustration when the two pages that have it are flipped quickly. Young readers will like these and boys in particular will like this book’s graphic illustrations and humorous story, complete with a vomiting dinosaur and a fight against killer robots. Children may even be inspired to write their own comic books after reading this book.
