Clara is 11, and the arbiter of taste in her parent's restaurant. She has an unfailing eye for who is a Somebody, and who has become a Nobody. From her table, she doles judgement on the high society customers who quake when her glance turns in their direction. When she condemns an old family friend

as a Nobody, he hints that there is a mystery under her nose, and Clara can't settle until she discovers what she's failed to notice. Set firmly in a New York that doesn't exist, it is Clara's gradual development into a human being that make this story appealing.
I'd give this to fans of mystery stories, or growing up stories.

Horrible.
Although the cold heartless rich person personality is a favorite character personality of mine, this book could do a lot better with it. Things happened way too quickly, and it was a short book so I don't see why more detail wasn't added.

This was a really good book it was a bit of an easier read for me but it was really good and good for when you don't really want to focus too much on a book.

A fun book about a girl too old for her own good. Clara comes to realize that being a young girl and acting like a young girl can work together. As the president of a children's literacy program, this is a book that I will definitely recommend to the kids we serve.

A very good story that opens the eye of a young girl, to the "real world" of judgement.
