Great for all ages. We could have the kids draw a picture of a mummy.

This is a good example of fantasy because it the story is about a cat who has an imaginary adventure in Egypt but all the characters who should be people are cats and dogs.

In this story of Skippyjon Jones, Shippyjon finds himself in ancient Egypt. Skippyjon is reunited with his doggy pals, Los Chimichangos, who want to visit the underworld where “mummitos rest in peas. “ I read this book to my students and we all cracked up at the misuses of both English and

Spanish.

Skippyjon (while speaking in a Spanish accent) imagines himself visiting Egypt. He talks about all the different adventures he sees while there as he plays with his friends. In the end, he finds himself back in his room safe at home. Genre: Modern Fantasy because it is obvious that a cat would not

speak in a Spanish accent and go to Egypt. There are bits of truth in the Spanish words he speaks, as well as the different aspects of Egypt he discusses. Setting is important. Because the story focuses on Egypt, the fact that the majority of it takes place their is necessary in getting a fuller experience. Media: Computer generated

The play on words (mommy/mummy), the rhyming text and creative storyline make this a good book for young readers who like adventure and exercising their imaginations. Skippyjon is a colourful character who thinks outside the box and takes charge of his own life adventures. This 32 page picture book

is full of colourful, detailed images and endearing characters. You can't help but like Skippyjon. The Spanish language allows for a fun read aloud if you are willing and is a nice unexpected twist for a Siamese cat. Overall, this Skippyjon story is right up there with the others!

Skippyjon Jones is about a young kitten that has a very active imagination. Skippyjon Jones goes into his closet which just happens to be ancient Egypt. In his closet or Egypt, he meets up with some old friends and begins his adventure to find mummies. Skippyjon Jones venture off into the dessert

in hunt of the Under World where the mummies rest. In his adventure, Skippyjon Jones is mummified himself by three goddess. When he arrives back home he realizes he was not actually mummified, but simply wrapped in toilet paper by his three younger sisters.

This book was very funny and also had an educational and cultural value with the Spanish words added in the story.

One lesson that I could use this book would be to explore the idea of mummies more in depth with the students. Exploring mummies would include the process of mummification, where they were buried, what they were wrapped in, and so on. Another idea for the classroom would be to practice using context clues in a story to help figure out meanings of an unknown word. The students would pick out the Spanish words and try to figure out the meaning using context clues in the story.

This is a story about Skippyjon Jones a siamese cat who pretends to be a sword fighting chihuahua. On this adventure Skippyjon Jones takes a trip to Egypt and the underworld and had to solve a riddle for the finx to enter the mummy's tomb.

In my opinion, Skippyjon Jones in Mummy Trouble is a good children’s book. I really liked that the author incorporate Spanish vocabulary words into the story. The main character in the story used the words chicos, vamanos, and frijoles. This definitely adds an element of interest and

multiculturalism, while challenging the readers. I also liked the illustrations because they are so detailed and follow the story very well. On page two, the cat is sitting on a pyramid made out of kitty litter while reading a book about mummies. The pictures on this page are very colorful and detailed to the point of seeing the grains of kitty litter and a great display of all activities occurring in the bathroom, such as, the other kittens using the litter boxes and the mother cat watching them. Also, the words were written in different fonts, sizes, and colors that capture the eye and add a little more fun to reading the words. The big idea of this story is that reading and imagination can create an escape to another world. For the main character, reading about mummies in ancient Egypt transported him back in time.

Another great book about the great Skippito! My students love the voices and singing and clapping. They get a big kick out of Skippyjon thinking he is a chihuahua!
