Retelling: Peter's favorite uncle took him on an adventure through the forest to find a special Gorilla. Peter found lots of animals but his uncle Nigel didn't seem to notice.

Thoughts and Feelings: Delightful! This is a perfect example of how irony can be used to make people laugh. I want an

Cute story about a boy who goes on an adventure with his uncle! Good example of how having gumption will increase your chances for having a great time!

This book was an okay read. It was very repetition, therefore not very engaging. The plot was very predictable and you knew what would happen, and what would be said on each page. The line, “Peter tried to follow,” was said five times and it was not very fun. I will say the illustrations were

great. This book was a Caldecott Medalist and the pictures were very detailed and colorful. My favorite was with all the animals Uncle Nigel and peter encountered in the rainforest. They were all laughing at Uncle Nigel with the things they had stolen from him during their explorations. The snake and his knife, the alligator had his life jacket, and the gorilla had his hat. The big message in this story is al always explore. These two explored and encountered many different animals and Peter was able to learn about the rainforest.
