Dizzy is a child of divorced hippies. She is being raised by her father, after being abandoned by her mother. Dizzy's only relationship with her mother is each birthday when her mother sends her a card or momento. On Her 12th birthday, Dizzy's mom shows up and takes Dizzy on a whirlwind holiday to

festivals. Through this Dizzy creates a sense of family where she least expects to find it. A warm story about friendship and non traditional family life. Several details and references to drugs..

I think that this book is just okay. Dizzy's mother really sorta freaked me out, and dad was so great, so that kind of irrated me that she sort of went along with her mother. All this book was really, just okay.

Dizzy has a nearly perfect because her mum left her when she was small. She lived with her dad but every birthday she has she gets a post card and a present. But on her 8th birthday she didnt get antthing but a surprise came on her door step and which will make her dizzy.

On the eve of her 12th birthday, Dizzy is about to see her greatest dream come true when her hippie mother, absent from the family for four years, returns to convince Dizzy's dad to let her come away for the summer. Dizzy is introduced to a life much different from the one back home.

This book is about a trumpet player named "Dizzy" his real name is John Birks Gillespie. Dizzy used to get hit on by his anger out on playing the trumpet. Dizzy played till he became famous. I had never even heard of Dizzy till I read this book . It was very good book and could be used to teach

What a wonderful book this is! Dizzy's parents were fringe kids who had to grow up fast when Dizzy came along. Dad coped, Mom not so much. When Mom comes back into Dizzy's life, everything is turned upside down. The characters are memorable and believable, the story sweet and not too far-fetched. I

found this an unmitigated delight.
