This is about a boy that is being called by his family memebers but pretends to be anything else beside himself, such as, a lion, dinosaur, and a monster. He runs away and escapes different memebers of his family trying to catch him. But he eventually gets hungry and goes back home, not as himself

but a a lion. This is a fun book about a little boy's imagination.

It took me a while, but I figured out that Bobby's thoughts are in a nice serif font and the adult voices yelling at him look like handwriting. Bobby imagines he's many exciting things until he gets hungry and SPOILER decides that he is a lion with Bobby's face and he won't eat anyone if he gets
Show More
what he wants. I'm sure there's something here about learning to put on the face that people expect you to have in order to make your way in the world.

About a little boy named Bobby who imagines his is everything but Bobby. He expresses a lot of imagination.

Bobby is a naughty little boy. He does not answer when being called. Instead, Bobby uses his imagination to hide from his family and runs away to keep from being found. He imagines himself a lion, an astronaut, anything to keep from having to be "Bobby."

My students enjoyed the repetition in the
Show More
sibling calling "BOBBY!" and Bobby's response "I'm NOT Bobby!" I did not feel it was a moral tale as the boy was not doing what he should but the students knew he was "gonna' be in trouble" when he finally went home. Good story to teach use of imagination!

I’m not Bobby! Bobby is a lion, an airplane, a dinosaur, a monster, a horse, a race car, an eagle, and a space ship, but while in space Bobby gets hungry and tired of being in space. He becomes a lion again. Perhaps if he wears a Bobby face, his family will not think he is a lion and feed
Show More
him.
Most children can identify with a parent constantly giving them commands: do this, do that, come here, or go there. Most children would love to get away into their own world with no parents to bother them, at least until they get hungry. The story is very short and the illustrations are simplistic, yet wild.
