Engaging mystery featuring journalist Irene Kelly and Det. Frank Hannigan - set in southern California and bridging past and present crimes. Good character development and nice blend of crime and romance.

While I found the mystery part of the story pretty easy to figure out, I still enjoyed this book a great deal. As it is the first in a series, a lot of time was spent developing the characters and explaining relationships, etc. I thought it was a good blend of mystery, humor and romance. I'm

looking forward to reading the next in the series.
