a lot of people, and had the skill to write about them in a beguiling style which looks simple but isn't. This book is the story of a journey starting at the source of the River Wye on the slopes of the Welsh mountain Plynlimon, enlivened by his recollections of the Welsh people he met on his way. He has a keen ear and a good memory for dialogue, and though sixty years and more have gone by since it was written in the middle of WW II, it still convinces and charms.

Lovely book - if you're lucky enough to find a copy! Well written journal-like anecdotes and recollections give a beautiful insight into this glorious valley's not so distant pre-war past. The author's engravings add to the book's beauty.
