I wish these books had been around when I was a child. They are fun, informative and suitably gory that even the least bookish child should enjoy them.

The Awesome Egyptians isn't as funny as later books in the series, but it's still fun. I learned several things I hadn't known (such as what became of one king's mummified heart, which seemed both unsanitary and disrespectful at the very least. The section on pyramid power wasn't at all convincing

because I'd seen that debunked on Mythbusters, but the projects look interesting. The illustrations are amusing, the sections on gods, myths, and the supposed curses quite good. All in all, an easy introduction to keep one's interest.

Not good. Some of the facts are repeated, leading me to believe this book was produced in haste.
