Summery:

This is a cute book about three chickens named Midge, Dot, & Pip. They are desperately wanting to fly like their leader Sam the rooster. They try try try but just can not figure it out so they decide to hide and watch Sam to copy how he does it. This is when they discovered their idolized

leader was not actually flying at all he was just hopping to where he needed to be. The hens were disappointed but did not think any less of their beloved Rooster Sam.

Personal Reaction to the book:

I personally loved this book and so did my children. It was a simple book that taught a nice lesson about not giving up and working hard at something you want. It also touched on striving to succeed at a goal and also not judging someone by their inabilities.

Extension Ideas:
1. I would use this book to teach students about goals and how to work hard at the goals.
2. I would use this book to teach students about how to treat others and to not judge one another.
