You really have to pay attention when reading Beckett, especially later works. The earlier ones seem to be mostly about homeless people and filth- although the later ones are about that too. The earlier ones are easier to read.

The best introduction to Beckett: If you've never heard of Beckett, this is the first thing you should check out. Richard Seaver's introduction is an added bonus, which helps us understand Beckett even more. All in all, a fabulous book.

This would be placed more accurately on my "currently reading" list, but the start of fall semester seems to have strong armed this one back onto the shelf. When I have some free time, however, I plan on going back to explore the rich and ridiculous prose, poetry and drama of this writer. I don't

know if I really get the "big idea" yet, but I have a feeling that might be the point... that there really is no big idea. Do I win? Anthologies in general, and so by association this one, can be effective tools to explore the the works of a specific author, although Beckett may not be as fitting for a high school room as the likes of Poe or Twain.
