This is a FANTASTIC sequel. While it wasn't quite gripping enough for me to give it five stars, as it did drag a little at a few parts for me, it's definitely a fantastic example of how a narrative thread can be carried from one book into another without slipping or feeling like anything has gotten

stale. We get new characters, closer glimpses at old ones, and a lot more development in the entire family saga set up in the first book.

*I received this book through a GoodReads Giveaway.*

I loved the first book - Daughter of the Pirate King - and this book was a strong sequel. While I was a little surprised by the number of character deaths in this book, they did give the story a strong sense of urgency and danger. I was happy to

see the relationship between Alosa and Riden continue to develop (although I do think their fun snippy conversations were better in the first book.) I did like how the story concluded and I look forward to reading more from this author.

This was a fantastic conclusion to this YA fantasy adventure duology. Both the books in this series were fun, highly entertaining, and easy to read. The story sucked me right in again and I ended up reading it in two sittings; it was pretty much impossible to put down.

In this book Alosa is
Show More
confronted with the truth about her father and begins a search for her mother. As she unravels her father’s lies she also unravels the truth of her own past and heritage.

I love Alosa as a heroine; she is tough, loves to act, and is fiercely protective of those she considers “hers”. The story is told at a fast clip and full of wonderful witty banter that I really enjoyed.

Overall I really loved both books in this series and can't wait to see what Levenseller writes next! I would highly recommend to those who enjoy fast-paced YA adventure fantasy featuring a strong heroine.

The pirate adventures of the kick-butt, red-headed captain, Alosa, continue in this sequel to Daughter of the Pirate King, and I loved it.

I loved The Pirate King, and thought it might have been a fluke since YA just does not seem to my fit lately (still love them, they just do not blow me away). I went into this one with low expectations, and I ended up loving it.

I think I enjoy these as there is a heavy romance within the story. I

could not put this one down and I think I liked it even more than I did book one. This is a series that shocked me as I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. I need to check out more from the author!

A worthy sequel to Daughter of the Pirate King- Alosa not only gets her revenge on past enemies, many of her childhood threads are finally connected: who was her mother? why did she 'leave' Alosa? (spoiler alert)... is her pirate king father actually worth her loyalty? And how exactly does Riden
Show More
affect her siren abilities? Great swashbuckling, open sea scenes, & some fantastic underwater siren world building... life & death suspense, some romance and lots of pirate adventures for teen readers, both boys/girls.

A GREAT read (dare I say, better than the first book). Action packed as any pirate adventure book should be with just enough gore to make you cringe once or twice. You fall in love with each of the main cast as they are introduced to the reader throughout the book. The push-pull romance is
Show More
maddening at times and is beautifully written. Very well done!
