You do not have to be Buddhist to benefit from these techniques. Meditation,especially, is useful no matter what your spiritual path. It has been scientifically proven that meditation has physical and mental health benefits. On top of that, Sakyong Mipham show us different ways to view the world and our place in it. Many of the leadership books of today use some of the basic principles presented here because these ancient strategies are logical and real. Discipline, confidence, wisdom, letting go, exertion, compassion, The list goes on.
From a leadership standpoint, by taking control of your own life, developing compassion for others and increasing your confidence makes you a stronger leader. By learning self-discipline you can make more confident decisions and work more authentically with others. Letting go of attachments to agendas, be they personal or professional, creates strong leadership. Leadership for the good of all, not just the few.
There are many Shambhala Buddhist references throughout the books. This is a secular tradition within the Tibetan Buddhist traditions. The concepts in this book will flow along with pretty much any spiritual path. There are no tenets of faith here, other than faith in the basic goodness of humankind. I believe anyone who reads this book will be able to find something positive to take away from it.
