This is the story of the American Civil War cavalry battle that took place at Trevilian Station, Virginia in June 1864, as well as the ordeal of Sheridan's second cavalry raid. After the ferocious fighting at Cold Harbor, Virginia, Union Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant ordered his cavalry, commanded by Major General Philip H. Sheridan, to distract the Confederate forces opposing the Army of the Potomac.
