I love this series from when I was a kid, but the first book is not its strongest point. Perhaps this is because it is the book I didn't own, so I have all my adult cynicism and critical facilities, and far fewer happy memories of reading it when small.

This is a children's book? No wonder I can't remember actually reading the trilogy I received for Christmas when I was nine! The writing is simplistic in places, as to be expected in a story about mice versus rats, but also very wordy. I did enjoy the Borrowers type details about life in the Perfectly believable for a cat! ) I only read this on Kindle Unlimited for the nostalgia kick and won't be going on with the rest of the trilogy, but thanks for the fun break!
