In desperation for something to read, I picked up this "chick mystery" from my lady's shelf. Wasn't too bad, actually. (SPOILER) Some well worn cliches aside, I found it really interesting how the protagonist and antagonist very gradually shifted roles...the sane voice of reason melding into the

insane ravings of a crackpot, while the young woman, at first a little "off" and cloying, becomes the victim.

A single RN leves alone and rents out the cottage behind her house when a young, single woman rens the cottage and things change. Enjoyable plot, characters were unusual.

Only a few of the characters are likable and there are a lot of sexual references. Some of them are just bizarre like the one about crevices and the ocean. Also, the author threw in page after page of pointless conversations between characters. Possibly to make the book longer. It's a disaster.

The plot is interesting, but grows unorganized and out of control at the end. The dream imagery I can do without. Not sure why the protagonist's dreams are important, but they seem to be in most of Fielding's books. In one specific part of the story, the protagonist has a flashback, but it's so

poorly constructed you're not sure if its the present or the past they are talking about. The story is imaginative and entertaining, but poorly put together in parts.

Wow. What a great ending. Did not expect that at all. Didn't see that one coming. Must go to the library to see if they have more Joy Fielding's books. I loved her fictional books too. Grand Avenue comes to mind.
