Description

A masterpiece of comic brilliance, The Complete Far Side contains every Far Side cartoon every syndicated-over 4,000 if you must know-presented in (more or less) chronological order by year of publication, with more than 1,100 that have never before appeared in a book. Also included are additional Far Side cartoons Larson created after his retirement: 13 that appeared in the last Far Side book, Last Chapter and Worse, and six cartoons that periodically ran as a special feature in the New York Times Science Times section as The Far Side of Science. Creator Gary Larson offers a rare glimpse into the mind of The Far Side in quirky and thoughtful introductions to each of the 14 chapters. Complaint letters, fan letters, and queries from puzzled readers appear alongside some of the more provocative or elusive panels. Actor, author, and comedian Steve Martin offers his pithy thoughts in a foreword, and Gary Larson's former editor describes what it was like to be "the guy who could explain every Far Side cartoon." I wouldn't know where to begin with this one. It's just a must have. And carrying it around is good exercise.

a very nice complete far side collection--hard bound and boxed--i guess it doesn't have the pre-history of the farside but that is alright with me--i kept meaning to get the previous collections but i guess, every once in a while procrastination can pay off!

It claims to have every published Far Side comic and a couple that weren't. If you like The Far Side by Gary Larson, then this is perfect. These books are very large tomes (17 lbs) and very sturdy made.

This is without a doubt, the most precious book I own. Gary Larson put a ton of effort into this to make sure that it was a beautiful book. And that doesn't even take into account the comics, which are drop-dead hilaroius.

The Far Side is my favorite cartoon of all time.

recommended for: anyone with a sense of humor, science buffs, Far Side fans

In my opinion, this is by far the funniest and most brilliant cartoon collection out there. This 2 book set contains all the Far Side cartoons that Gary Larson created, and there are some real gems in here. (I also have all

the earlier Far Side books as well. I've been a huge fan from the beginning.) Exceptionally funny and intelligent.

Every Far Side comic ever created, plus bonus new sketches from Larson. This deluxe set is huge and nicely bound. Saves a lot of shelf space from all the smaller paperbacks.

All of Larson's wonderful bent humor. The size and weight of the books makes them a bit unwieldy for anything but short casual browsing.

Gary Larson's "The Far Side" is one of the funniest, most macabre, wickedly creative and hilarious, frequently gut-busting strips ever to come down the pike. Did I mention funny? "The Far Side" has roots in Charles Addams' and Gahann Wilson's work, but Larson was far more prolific and enduring. One

of my favorite cartoons ever is here, with two polar bears cracking open an igloo, one of them saying "Oh hey! I just love these things! Crunchy on the outside and a chewy center!" With a foreword by Steve Martin, kind of a wild and crazy guy himself, and notes by Larson strewn throughout the two volumes, which cover the entire run of the strip from 1980 to 1994.

All of Gary Larson's work in 2 volumes, an excellent and ultimate collection for any fan of the Far Side. His offbeat and often dark humor is great.
