In this second incarnation of the story of Eve and Roarke, people are dying as always. This time it’s a high profile prosecuting attorney, and a sometimes colleague of Lieutenant Dallas, who had her throat viciously cut in a dark rainy alley. Meanwhile Eve is trying to come to grips with her feelings for Roarke, not to mention him pushing her to accept his love.
With the media almost one step ahead of her, her commander’s lack of objectivity, and Eve’s nightmares about a past trauma she’s repressed - oh, and some steamy loves scenes and heated arguments - it’s just another chase in the park for NYPSD’s best and most sarcastic.
The detective part is more sensible and less disturbing in concept than the first. We see a bit more of Summerset so perhaps he becomes more
I'm starting book 3 right now.
I don't recommend starting this book unless you have the next two or three books in the series available to read when you finish this one. Enjoy.
I've found this to be a recurring problem with Robb. Perhaps it is her romance novel background. Overall though, her characters are outstanding and I want to get to know more about them.
As with any cozy
I also really enjoy the development of the relationship between Eve and Roark. The negotiating between what is my life and what is your life and how do we merge the two feels supremely real. Anyone who has done this will recognize the pitfalls that come with trying to merge two lives, although most people probably don’t have crazed killers after them while doing it, still…
This
I really like Eve a lot. Her life is very complicated because of her past that she doesn’t want to remember. She doesn’t know how to be in a relationship and she’s afraid of her feelings. With the pressure of her job and the fact that she has some issues with the whole relationship thing, she’s having a hard time in the bigger part of this story. It’s obvious in this book that for the first time in her life accepts her feelings and it’s a step forward for her.
Roarke is a mystery man. But he is a determined man also. He loves Eve beyond reason and, although, they fight and they disagree a lot at the beginning, he doesn’t let her go. He knows that she has many problems but he wants her to be happy. He wants to be the one who will make her happier and not afraid of the relationships. I like him because he is a man of action.
The plot was very good in this book and it has a good development in the characters. I love the writing style and I believe that it’s a great read for all the fans of his genre!
In this, the second book, she is solving the murders of several women in prominent
I can see I'm in for the long haul on this series. There goes my Nook budget again. :)
And Roarke still carries that stupid button...
I really hated it.
