Gracie Rose loves her quite home, but one day the painters come to paint the house and Gracie learns that she does not like painters. Because they put her outside of the house and the gate is open, Gracie decides to take a walk all by herself. While she is walking, she hears someone calling her

name, instead of going back to the house, she runs fast. She sees that the painters and everyone else in the neighborhood is chasing her, so she runs even faster. After a while, she hears nothing and everything else is as quite as before the painters came. Gracie returns to her home that she loves.

This book is an example of fantasy because it gives Gracie who is a dog real feeling and thoughts which we wouldn’t actually know but you don’t question them as you reading.

The Great Gracie chase is an excellent modern fantasy story that younge readers will greatly enjoy. It tells the story of a sweet dog named Gracie who escapes her house and takes the entire neighborhood on an adventurous chase that only leads her back home. Since readers are not able to hear the

thoughts of their beloved pets in real life, this fantasy story opens the imagination of readers to what their pets might be thinking in their day to day life. The patterns and rhythm of this story will also captivate the audience, along with the wonderful illustrations.

'The Great Gracie Chase: Stop that Dog!' by Cynthia Rylant is a cute story about a pet dog named Gracie. Gracie is a good dog that enjoys her quiet house with the kitty cat and goldfish. One day painters show up at Gracie's house and begin to make a lot of noise. Gracie decides she does not like

all of the noise so she takes a walk right out of her fence alone. After Gracie leaves the entire neighborhood begins to search for her in what turns into the chase for Gracie. By the end of the story, Gracie walks home alone and the painters never show up at her quiet house again. This book is very colorful and fun. I would read it to grades K-3.

This book is about a dog that likes the quiet. Everything in her life was going great because everyone was quite until the painters showed up and made her house very loud. She began to bark and was thrown outside. She decided to go for a run when she was not suppose to. She ran fast and everyone

began to chase her. She did not care she kept running until people stopped chasing her. She then decided to go home, and it was all quite again. I would use this book as a read aloud. It was a fun read.

Gracie Rose loved piece and quite. She was a very good dog every day except the day the painters came to her house to paint her kitchen. They came and were making to much noise so she began to bark and bark. When she wouldn't stop barking one of the painters put her outside and she decided to do

something bad. Gracie went on a walk alone and when the painters realized that she wasn't in the yard it began the "Great Gracie Chase." Everyone in town was outside trying to catch her but no one could. They began to get tired and couldn't run anymore so Gracie went back home in quite and was a happy dog again. Such a cute story to read to young children.

This is a more primary text that uses varied sentence length and repetition of sentence structure very well. The story is funny and identifiable for children. I'd feel very comfortable using it with a group of children and it would easily maintain student interest.

Realistic fiction. It is a simple read that students might like, especially if they have dogs. The story is about a dog who like the house to be really quite. A quite house is a great house. One day a group of painters came to paint the house. Gracie didn't like it so she ran away. Pretty soon the
Show More
whole town was chasing her. Finally Gracie returned home to her quite house.

I would use this book to introduce quotation marks. There are not many in this book, so it is easier to focus on the main ones of the story. In this books, Gracie the dog is let out of her house, and her family has to find her. Grade: 2-4

The character in this book, a dog named Gracie, likes the house to be quiet. Painters come over and start making a lot of noise, and Gracie doesn't like it. So the dog runs away, and the entire community chases after the dog until she comes home.

This book is about Gracie the dog who runs away after the painters put her outside. This is a good example of realistic fiction because dogs often do run away when they get put outside.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable book. One of my favorite children’s authors, Cynthia Rylant always understands our pets, best. Mark Teague, is becoming one of my favorite Illustrators, too. His style is best known in the “How Do Dinosaurs?” series with Jane Yolen, another favorite of mine.
