This book is about Gracie the dog who runs away after the painters put her outside. This is a good example of realistic fiction because dogs often do run away when they get put outside.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable book. One of my favorite children’s authors, Cynthia Rylant always understands our pets, best. Mark Teague, is becoming one of my favorite Illustrators, too. His style is best known in the “How Do Dinosaurs?” series with Jane Yolen, another favorite of mine.
