I know van Fleet's pattern, yet each new book continues to be a delight. He may have a formula, but he does it exceedingly well, and throws in fresh touches on old techniques. His stories are simple, with little text on each page, but the focus is the interactive pictures. In this book, we have a

cat swatting at yarn, a cat playing with a shiny red ball that actually squeaks, and multiple textures to represent various fur types. All of the illustrations are actual photographs of cats, playfully posed. We even see guest appearances by a dog and mouse (I especially like the mouse hidden beneath a piece of cheese at the end). Although the written word is simple, it conveys the same humor as the rest of the book. Another excellent entry by an author that my family and I love. Show Less
